What you should (or may want to) know about Belgambia Tours
BELGAMBIA TOURS & GUESTHOUSE LTD.
Belgambia Tours is the parent travel brand behind Senegambia Birding, created to offer a wider range of authentic journeys in The Gambia and Senegal.
While Senegambia Birding focuses specifically on birding and photography tours, Belgambia Tours also includes nature, culture, heritage and relaxing private travel experiences. This clear distinction helps guests immediately understand which brand best matches their interests.
We are a licensed tour operator, officially registered with the Gambian Chamber of Commerce, and hold all necessary permits and insurance for our lodge in Mandinari. Our lodge is registered with the Gambian Tourism Board (GTB) and operate under VAT registration number SRN1920065720. While our lodge and the surrounding property were already registered locally, they are now officially recognized in our name by the relevant government authorities.
This formal registration was required because part of our property is located within the protected Tanbi Wetlands National Park.
Safety is also our top priority when it comes to transport. All our vehicles are insured and thoroughly checked before every tour, ensuring you can travel in comfort and with peace of mind.
Belgambia Tours – more than a travel company – a mission with impact
Belgambia Tours was founded in 2018 with a mission that goes beyond offering tours. In a country where opportunities can be limited, we invest in training, employment, and real future prospects for a new generation of local guides and for the wider community. What started as a love for nature has grown into a skilled, passionate team known for knowledge, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm.
Our tours take you through colourful Gambia, the Smiling Coast of Africa, just a six-hour flight from the Benelux. They are led by experienced Gambian guides and designed for nature lovers, photographers, and curious travellers of every level. When you choose Belgambia Tours, you choose quality, local expertise, personal service, and fair, direct collaboration without intermediaries. We look forward to welcoming you and giving you a journey you will never forget.
Looking Ahead to 2026/2027 – Building a Brighter Future Together
At Belgambia Tours, we believe travel should create connection and real impact.
Thanks to the trust of our guests, we have grown in recent seasons — and we use that growth to give back. Our goal for 2026 is to build an orphanage and a primary school in The Gambia, creating safe places for vulnerable children and sustainable jobs for local families. Every trip with us supports nature conservation, education, care, and employment. This is not empty marketing, but real impact rooted in local reality.
We are looking for sponsors and partners to help make this possible. Contact contact@senegambiabirding.com. Every contribution brings us one step closer.
Our own Lodge at the Tanbi wetlands. Belgambia Lodge Mandinari
For years, guests asked if we would ever open our own lodge — and now we have. Belgambia Lodge is a small, private hideaway in Mandinari, on the edge of the protected Tanbi Wetlands, where you stay surrounded by tropical nature and birdlife. The lodge offers five comfortable double rooms, a cosy bar with garden view, fresh local cuisine, and a peaceful setting with feeding spots, drinking areas, and a private photo hide for guests.
Bordering a rich wetland ecosystem of 6,000 hectares, the area is home to remarkable wildlife, including monkeys, crocodiles, otters, genets, and an impressive variety of birds. For nature lovers, photographers, and travellers seeking peace and authenticity, Belgambia Lodge is a truly special place to stay.
Strong Women, Strong Organisation
Women are at the heart of our success. At the helm is our General Manager and owner, Kaddy Sarr – a dynamic and inspiring leader whose vision, hospitality, and attention to detail set the high standards for everything we do. Together with talented colleagues such as Hawa, Fatou, Margret, Fatoumata, and Sonna, she ensures flawless organization, exceptional guest care, and a warm welcome that will remain a cherished memory long after your visit.
Their dedication is more than just work – it is a statement that women in The Gambia, regardless of tradition or expectation, can and should play a key role in entrepreneurship, hospitality, and development. And you can feel that strength in every detail of your stay.
Top Guides with Local Expertise
At Belgambia Tours and Senegambia Birding, our guides are among the very best in The Gambia, with strong knowledge of nature, wildlife, birds, and local culture. They also work exceptionally well with photographers, understanding how to find the right light, the right position, and the right moment while respecting wildlife.
Whether you want to enjoy nature, discover local life, observe rare species, or capture unforgettable images, our guides know exactly where and when to go. Their experience helps turn every excursion into something special, from small details to unforgettable highlights.
Photography is deeply woven into the way we design our tours. With a founder who is a passionate photographer himself, both Belgambia Tours and Senegambia Birding are built to offer not only beautiful experiences, but also outstanding photographic opportunities.
